Towering giants of the bushveld

There’s something special about seeing a giraffe in the wild. With their long necks and calm nature, giraffes are one of the most loved animals to spot while out on safari. Guests at Bushveld Terrace are often lucky to encounter them when either on a self-drive or a guided drive through the Kruger National Park.

Giraffes are one of Africa’s most iconic and graceful animals. With their long necks, tall legs, and peaceful nature (repetition), they move quietly through the bush, browsing the tops of trees that few other animals can reach. Often seen in small groups called towers when standing still, or journey when on the move, they are calm and curious creatures making them a favourite among safari-goers.

Whether they’re stretching up to feed on trees or awkwardly bending down for a drink, giraffes always offer a special moment to anyone lucky enough to see them.
