There are so many experiences to be had and ways to explore the Kruger in our special part of the Park, offering distinctive bushveld encounters for the whole family.

Here are just a few exciting activities you can enjoy when you stay with us.

Morning game drive

Departing in the early mornings, enjoy the beauty and utter tranquillity of a sunrise in the bush on a guided drive. Let experienced guides treat you to the wonders and marvels of the bush waking up for another day in Kruger.

Evening game drive

Sunset is a special time to witness the beauty and majestic energy of the sun setting and the moon rising in the bush as it transforms, preparing for nocturnal activities . Enjoy sundowners and snacks at a watering hole or at a secluded spot in the bush, followed by night game viewing using spotlights. This is also a wonderful opportunity to view our star filled sky away from the city lights. Budding astronomers take note!

Half-day game drive

Enjoy the early morning beauty of nature and a sunrise in the bush.

Full-day game drive

If you have a lot of time on your hands, why not try this on for size?

Spend the entire day in the capable hands of your guide where you will be shown more wide-ranging parts of the Park.

Kruger on foot

A not-to-be-missed opportunity to experience the bush on foot and to learn more about birds, insects, flora, fauna, spoor and the fascinating lives of the smaller inhabitants of the Park up close and personal – things you never see from a vehicle. Enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of sunrise in the bush away from the noise and stresses of daily life. A wonderful opportunity.

Cycling in Kruger

Cycle in the early morning breeze and experience the bush on two wheels. You will need to have a certain level of fitness. Three routes available with approximate distances of 16km, 20km and 30km routes. Exhilarating, energising and memorable!

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Elephant museum

Letaba Rest Camp, 50km from Phalaborwa Gate and our hotel.

The Elephant Museum at Letaba Rest Camp is great for children and adults alike. It includes information about elephant evolution, biology, behaviour, ecology and research. It also showcases the ivory of eight of Kruger’s greatest tuskers (including six of the Magnificent Seven). This site introduces you to these and some of Kruger’s other big tuskers. It also has fun and games for kids and information for schools and educators.

Olifants River Boat Cruise

45 minute self-drive from the hotel

A 3-hour boat cruise for close encounters with crocodile, hippo and elephant along the banks of the Olifants River. Photographers and birders will enjoy the convenience of the upper deck equipped with chairs and tables. Great for a sundowner cruise on the river and an entirely unique game viewing experience. 

Qualito’s Craft Distillery

7 minute self-drive from the hotel.

The Qualito Distillery is situated nearby in Phalaborwa. Get to watch as the expert distillers carefully guide the process of gin making, from choosing the best grains to crafting something that is nothing short of a masterpiece. Served on ice, or neat, and guaranteed to tantalise the discerning palate, enjoy sampling Qualito’s high quality craft gin. 

Tzaneen Lion & Predator Park (Eco Park)

1 hour and 20 minute drive from the hotel.

The Tzaneen Lion & Predator Park, also known as Letaba River Lodge, is open to day visitors. Experienced handlers will show you how to interact safely with a range of animals and share interesting facts about lions, tigers, hyena, caracal, serval, leopard and more.

Jessica the hippo (Hoedspruit)

1 hour and 15 minute self-drive from the hotel.

This is an activity children will love! Jessica is a hand-reared hippo who is now 10 years old.  The tour includes a video about Jessica and her history followed by a walk to the raft to feed Jessica her daily snack.

Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre (Kampersrus)

1 hour and 15 minute self-drive from the hotel.

Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured or poisoned animals. The permanent residents of the centre mean that visitors can get up close and personal with creatures they would not usually experience in this way. It demonstrates on a very practical level the plight of wildlife and the problems these animals face to survive. A great educational experience for the whole family.

Echo Caves (Orighstad)

1 hour and 40 minute self-drive from the hotel.

Another adventure enjoyed by adults and children alike. Echo Caves are some of the oldest caves in the world and have been declared an historical monument. There are guided tours through the 2km of tunnels, with opportunities to view impressive stalagmites and stalactites.

Panorama Route (Graskop)

118km;  +- 3 hour self-drive from the hotel.

The panorama route is a scenic drive along the Mpumalanga Escarpment. This activity can be explored in your own vehicle or a guided tour can be arranged for you. Explore the awe-inspiring landmarks such as the Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Three Rondavels and God’s Window en-route to Graskop where you can stop for lunch (try Harry’s Pancakes).
